EE BROADBAND PACKAGES AND SPEEDS REVIEW
EE Broadband packages and speeds: How good are they?
EE Broadband offers a sensible range of speeds, including its headline-grabbing 1.6Gbps packages. Beyond that there are four tiers to choose from with each package – Core, Standard, Premium and Ultimate. That’s a lot of choice, so let’s dive deep here.

Package range
EE’s choice of packages looks simple at first. Choose a speed, then choose a 'tier'. But that second choice matters, because the extras you'll get bundled in – some of which you might actually need – will depend on it.
EE makes you choose twice: Speed first, what's in it second
Start with the speed, then look at what comes with it
EE’s Full Fibre speeds run from 150Mbps up to 1.6Gbps. That’s a wide spread, and it gives most homes enough room to choose something sensible rather than jumping straight to the fastest thing on the shelf.
But EE doesn’t stop at just the speed. Once you’ve picked one, you then choose the package around it. That’s where Core, Standard, Premium and Ultimate come in, and that’s where the decision gets more interesting. You’re not just buying ‘300Mbps’ or ‘900Mbps’. You’re also choosing which router, features and extras you're going to get.
'Core' is better than the name suggests
EE’s Core packages are the obvious place to start, because they give you the broadband connection without loading the package with too many extras. On EE’s current Full Fibre packages, Core still includes the Smart Hub 7 Plus, which is a very good router. That makes Core a good fit for homes that mainly want fast broadband and no fuss. If you don't need additional layers of security, don’t need an extender, and don’t want TV bundled in, Core makes the most sense.
The higher package tiers are about the rest of the home
EE’s most expensive packages are less about making one device faster and more about helping the whole house cope better. Standard adds family and security features, Premium is aimed more at larger homes, and Ultimate is EE’s top-end package with its best router and set-up support.
That’s a sensible structure, but you still need to be careful. If your house is small and your router sits in a good spot, paying more for extra Wi-Fi help may be overkill. If your house is large, awkwardly shaped or full of people online at once, the package above Core may be the better buy.
The 1.6Gbps package is EE showing off
EE’s 1.6Gbps package is the one with the eye-catching number, and it’s also where EE puts its flashiest broadband hardware. The current 1.6Gbps Premium example includes the Smart Hub 7 Pro, WiFi Extender 7 Pro and WiFi Optimiser.
That’s the real story with EE’s top package. It’s not only selling speed. It’s selling a fuller home Wi-Fi set-up around that speed. For a busy home, that could be genuinely useful. For an ordinary home, it could be a lot of stuff you don’t really need.

How to choose an EE broadband package
1. Use our Speed Matcher tool
Start with the speed you need.
You can find our Speed Matcher tool in the available speeds section of this page. It'll audit your household and point you towards the right EE speed.
2. Check your postcode
Can you get EE Full Fibre?
Head over to EE and enter your postcode. Full Fibre is still being rolled out, so check your address before comparing packages.
3. Compare what comes with it
Routers and extras vary.
EE packages aren't only about speed. Check whether you're getting the Smart Hub 7 Plus, Smart Hub 7 Pro, an extender or extra security before you choose.
